Low carbon steel is the starting point for creating electro galvanized iron wire. This process begins with pulling the steel through a die to create a strand, then cleaning it in an acid bath and reheating it. Afterward, the wire must be dipped into a special coating of zinc. The result is a more corrosion-resistant, weldable product which is used to build structures, safely fence off highways, and thread floral arrangements together as well as weave wire meshes.
Cost-effective and durable, electro galvanized iron wire offers a great value for its price. This is primarily due to its composition- the steel wire consists of just 0.06%-0.12% of carbon. Another reason behind its affordable cost is the electroplating process that coats the surfaces of the steel wire with a thin layer of zinc, typically 8-15 microns thick. Consequently, with such low cost of production and materials, this galvanized iron wire proves to be an economical choice.
Despite its relatively small price tag, the electro galvanized iron wire has a number of shortcomings. Poor weather resistance makes it unsuitable for outdoor applications, and oxidation can lead to its premature deterioration, greatly reducing its lifespan.
