Anybody can proficiently tie picture wire with only a bit of training. Prior to attempting to knot wires, make sure to select an adequate size and type of wire that can hold up the weight of the picture. Pictures with more heft will need a durable wire while lighter ones can manage using a thinner steel. Furthermore, evaluate which approach would work best for hanging a picture. Generally, eye hooks or forms of wire loops are the two most favored methods.
To hang your frame, you’ll need two eye hooks. Insert them into the top corners, fastening them firmly but not over-tightening as this could strip their threads. Afterwards, string the wire tight between both hooks, leaving 6 inches of slack to create a level display. Finally, twist the line several times to ensure a secure hold.
Before hanging a framed picture, crafty crafters need to build a supportive foundation. Cut a length of wire about two times the width of the frame, and then carefully bend it in the middle and twist it several times to form a sturdy loop that slides easily onto your chosen hang-hardware – an eye hook or nail. When the loop is secure, attach one on each corner of the frame and thread the wire through – but don’t tighten yet, as some slack will be required to ensure the piece hangs evenly.
Securely fixing the wire will enable you to proudly display your chosen picture. Check that it hangs straight on the wall with a level, then take a step back and admire the fruits of your labour.
